Details around Beyonce’s upcoming single have been revealed by dancers auditioning for the music video to the song. The Switch produced first single “Girl” has been described as a “female empowerment/girl power type of song that is a definite club banger with Top 40/Worldly appeal”. Moreover, the song is supposed to have an “absolutely fucking disgustingly sick” dance breakdown and also samples Major Lazer’s hit “Pon De Floor”.
Switch, who is also part of Major Lazer, is known for producing “Bionic”, “Monday Morning” and “Elastic Love” by Christina Aguilera and “Wear My Kiss” by British girl group Sugababes. Apparently, Beyonce is taking a risk by stepping out of her comfort zone and relying on a new producer for her pilot single.
The concept behind the video seems to be just as intriguing as the song itself. Directed by Francis Lawrence, who also directed Lady GaGa’s “Bad Romance”, the visual for “Girl” is going to include a massive dance scene with more than 100 female dancers. However, only 20 of them are going to do the choreography with Beyonce. The rest will be carrying sticks and marching behind her. No male dancers are participating in the complex routine, developed by 8 choreographers.
Listen to the “Pon De Floor” track she’s apparently sampling below, it sounds HOT to me so I bet B will really bring the house down with this one! The POP Gods have been SO GOOD to us this year – I can’t wait for her return!
