She’s ruled the summer with “Fancy”, proved she can have solo success with “Boom Clap”, and now the video for “Break the Rules” is here to officially cement Charli XCX as the new Queen of Cool.

The video sees Charli in full teen heartbreaker mode, strutting her stuff with a gang of girls on a school bus, raiding a trashy lingerie shop and, duh, crashing a totally lame high school prom.  With an ending that I can’t spoil here and a guest appearance from Jawbreaker star Rose McGowan, Charli’s love for pop culture throwbacks shines through once again.

She’s also just really hot, right?

Charli XCX is the perfect alternative to the squeaky clean, generic musicans labels love to churn out.  It’s refreshing to see someone finding success their own way while fully embracing what it means to be a Pop Star.
