“Let the motherfucker burn!” British singer-songwriter Ella Eyre has just premiered the video for her latest single “Comeback” and it’s (literally) on fire.
“Comeback” is a blistering kiss-off track, a retro-soul breakup anthem in the vein of Amy Winehouse and Duffy but with a slightly more modern twist. Anchored by Ella’s jazzy vocals, the song and video are a powerful statement of how to treat those no-good exes who just won’t go away.
Playing like a female version of Justin Timberlake’s “Cry Me a River” (without the creepy filming-myself-with-another-woman-in-your-bed bit), Ella looks stunning as she trashes the apartment of a past flame. It’s a fun video that allows Ella’s personality and style to shine, giving a promising glimpse of what’s to come from the 20 year old’s full-length debut later this year.
