Madonna blew the cover and revealed that she’s in the studio with Natalia Kills. No big deal, right? Wrong! This is a very big deal, this might be the most biggest very big deal of 2014 so far.
For the first time in nearly a decade, I feel a sense of relief with Madonna and her collaboration choices. Sure, I’m fine with an Avicii thing happening, that’s a given. Can you blame M for working with the mammoth dance producer?
This thing with Natalia Kills though, this is Madonna striking gold with a brilliant POP artist who isn’t an overplayed key-player-of-the-moment – JT, Timbaland, David Guetta, Martin Solveig anyone? This is Madonna working with a POP mastermind who may be the savior of her career, not that her career needs any saving (she’s done more than her share of good for POP) but the music hasn’t been the same since…. “Hung Up”.
Kills has a knack for a moody acid-ballad or a serious party stomper, flawlessly delivering deadly hooks while treading on the line between plastic and substance, she’s the perfect pairing for Madonna. This is where shits about to get real. Not to overhype the collaboration – hello, welcome to the internet – but Natalia and Madonna have me on the edge of my seat, already.
