Alright, this post has been a long time coming.

Several months ago I walked into L.A.’s Tigerheat for a Carly Slay Jepsen performance and waited around for hours. Tons of POP filled the room, everything I was already familiar with and then boom, this song called “I Love Myself” by Hailee Steinfeld came on and I was all like AGAERHDJKASDA! I had no idea who this girl was, didn’t bother watching Pitch Perfect 2 so she was a stranger with a hit to me.

Several months have passed and the 18-year old newcomer has finally followed up that infectious self-loving anthem with “Hell Nos And Headphones,” another undeniable hit but of a different breed. Unlike “I Love Myself,” “Hell Nos and Headphones” rides that trippy indie-POP wave, leaving behind the younger sounds of bubblegum and trading up for something the “cool kids” may even wrap their ears around.

Two singles and two amazing POP songs, she’s clearly doing something right, no matter what direction she’s letting her POP-compass lead her in. Her debut HAIZ EP drops today and you can stream it on Spotify HERE.
