Last night, social media sites lit up with “ooooh’s and “aaah’s” galore as Beyonce took to the stage during the Superbowl halftime show. I gave my fair share of gasps during some of the shows flawless moments but in the end,  I was left rather unimpressed.

Before you attack me on this, trust that I know that Beyonce is in a category of her own when it comes to performances, fierce hair whipping and belting out live tunes can be done by no other like Bey. Did she slay last night? Absolutely. There were the obvious moments that deserved standing applause from my living room but at the end of it all, it was a show like any other Beyonce show, seriously, we’ve seen it all before….

I’m going to break down the half-time show and rate it in several categories:

Entrance: 3/5 – It was cute but a diva of her caliber needs a grand entrance. Jump out of a giant beehive for once in your life, Bey!

Musical Arrangement:  2.5/5 – It was fun but it was standard, reinvent the hits for 2013, give us something fresh and new.

Dancing: 3.5/5 – Once again, the same old Beyonce show took place here. Sure, she nailed the moves but she’s been doing them for years, she better have it down by now.

Production: 2/5 – In all, the show was lacking real “WOW” moments aside from the springing of fellow children of destiny onto stage. Dancing against a wall of Beyonce’s is hot, but it was also hot when she did it 2 years ago.

Destiny’s Child Reunion: 3/5 – Let’s face it, Kelly and Michelle had a better entrance then Bey did. Unfortunately, we could barely hear the girls and they didn’t even perform “Lose My Breath”, what gives? At least they didn’t attempt to do “Nuclear”.

Overall Execution: 3/5 – There’s no doubt that Beyonce is one of the greatest divas of our generation. She is the real deal when it comes to vocals and dancing, I really just believe she needs to fire some of her team and do something completely new and fresh. This felt more like a tribute to the “Iam… World Tour” than anything else.

Final Score: 2.8/5

I tried really hard not to bring Madonna into this but how does someone nearly twice Beyonce’s age put on a more spectacular halftime show? REINVENTION.
