Remember when MGMT, M83 and Robyn amongst other ace electronic acts were the sound? Well I pray it’s coming back and I hope the German female-fronted band Cosby is a driving force behind its reawakening.
Cosby, who have notably racked up millions of Spotify plays, delivers nostalgia of the heavenly elecontric-POP sort, the kind from the late ’00’s and early ’10’s, yes, that kind. Their single “Milestone” is a shining beacon of hope in a soundscape enslaved to a tropical this and a future-bass drop that.
Cosby have even gone as far as providing a music video you actually want to watch. Lifted from the press release:
The band always had the idea in Autumn 2017 to travel to Malawi and help provide solar electricity for a school they had connections with.
Once the band arrived, they began their planning and organising how to actually build and raise funds for solar panels for two schools and a nursery school for orphans. They spent the end of 2017 working and at the end, wrote the song Milestone and shot a video for it with their new-found friends, documenting their journey and experience. All of the revenues from their latest single “Greyblue” were donated to a non-profit organisation.
One listen to “Milestone” and I think you’re going to have a new favorite band.
