Ryan Adams’ decision to cover Taylor Swift’s 1989 album in its entirety (minus the Target deluxe tracks, disappointingly) has turned out to be one of my favorite things of 2015.
Ryan’s interpretation basically swallows up everything I love about music and spits it out, perfectly packaged. Adams delivers renditions of Swift’s work that sounds like The Smiths, painfully haunting but undeniably beautiful, it’s this kind of artistry that truly deserves the highest of praises. If this album fails to move you, you may be dead inside.
Perhaps one of my favorite album covers is Adams take on “Out Of The Woods,” it plays out like the last glass of wine before bed on a crisp fall day, it hurts so good. Stream the “Out Of The Woods” cover below and check out the entire album on Spotify HERE.
Ryan, can we PLEASE have a 1989 tour? I beg you, PLEASE!
