New Icona Pop is here and it’s as bubbly and exciting as “I Love It”, it’s just not as good.
On first listen, “Girlfriend” almost feels mighty cringeworthy but by second listen it’s not too bad and you realize it’s pretty fun. Is it a smash? Who knows at this point. I guess the girls and the label are sticking to the whole “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” formula. The Tupac sample is just for mainstream purposes, right?
