Ariana Grande is quickly becoming POP’s hottest rising act. She’s being branded the Mariah Carey for a new generation and with good reason, she sounds just like the famous diva.

Her new single “Baby I” just dropped and it’s a fine tune as sleek 90′s vibes echo the sounds of Mariah’s once stable career, but it’s not THAT great, or am I the only one who feels this way?

The issue I have with “Baby I” is that if Mariah Carey had released it, would we be so quick to jump on it? I have a feeling there would have been a bit of a backlash if this were a Mariah record.

I suppose Ariana is granted a pass because she’s a new artist and it’s a compliment to sound like old-school Mariah. I’m just not completely sold on Grande yet, “Baby I” is a fine tune but it sounds like Christina Milian back in the mid-00′s.
