We received a little gift earlier today to share with everyone from the good folks at Kii Music, promoting up and coming electro-pop duo Muchuu, ENJOY!

Their debut single ‘Somebody Tell Me’ will be released on Kii Music today and is available through Itunes. It’s a joyous ode to youthful escapism, brimming with feel good-ness. Dancing on a bedrock of two-step strings and party-beats, lead singer Milky’s childlike vocals playfully urge the listener to close the curtains and sneak out the back door to a magical star-lit forest, armed with nothing but a spring in their step and a pocketful of penny chews.

Muchuu are 21 year old Milky and her 19 year old brother George and they are here to whisk you away to their magical, parallel universe where anything is possible. Pronounced ‘moo-chew’, their name originates from elfin-faced lead singer Milky’s obsession with all things Japanese. It means the dreamy feeling of being lost in an ecstatic, trance-like state.

Milky’s passion for relaying the fairy-tale world inside her head is matched by her brother George’s gleeful electronic meddling. Cheap keyboards and sound effects crafted from whatever was lying around in their garage formed the basis of their home studio sound. His productions showcase a deft melodic touch allied to crisp percussion, crunching like leaves underfoot. Balancing it all is an intuitive understanding of when to let his sister’s effervescent personality shine through. As well as being technically gifted he can also sing, providing exquisite vocal harmonies that perfectly compliment Milky’s voice.

Muchuu have already grabbed the attention of Nick Grimshaw and Huw Stephens, who was given a demo by a friend. He loved it so much that he has played their music on his show and had them in for a Maida Vale session. Muchuu were consequently invited by Radio 1 to perform on their stage at Underage Festival in Victoria Park this summer.  Not bad for a band yet to release their first single.

Muchuu’s debut album, ‘Adventure We Go’, will be released in 2010.
