Demi Lovato has dropped the most buzzed about album of the month today. The “Skyscraper” singer worked with everyone from Timbaland and Missy Elliott to One Republic frontman Ryan Tedder and Kerli to craft the appropriately titled Unbroken.
Has the former Disney star delivered on her post-rehab, third studio album? Yes and no, but mostly yes. I’m not in love with the album the way I really wanted to be, it has it’s moments. If anything, her honesty and sincerity shine throughout the record and that alone is worth every reason for giving it a play (“For The Love Of A Daughter”).
However, it’s the title track “Unbroken” and “Lightweight” that were utter standouts for me. These two tracks along with the smash single “Skyscraper” and the fun yet simplistic second single “Who’s That Boy” are the actual major cuts on the whole album. You also get somewhat acceptable material with tracks like “Hold Up”, “In Real Life”, and “My Only Shorty”. All in all, I give Unbroken a 3/5 stars.
Listen to the new single “Who’s That Boy” and my favorite tracks “Lightweight” and “Unbroken” below! What do you think of the record? Unbroken is available everywhere now.
