It’s crazy to think that it has been nearly 5 years since Cyndi Lauper gave us this amazing POP balladry that is “Rain On Me”, even crazier to think that I’ve waited this long to blog it.

I’ll admit that my familiarity with Lauper was limited to her top hits prior to the release of Bring Ya To The Brink on May 27, 2008. Working at a record store has massive perks, like allowing me the opportunity to open my mind and expand my horizons and I did exactly that with Bring Ya To The Brink. I rather enjoyed the album, and dare I say much more than that Hard Candy contribution by her 80’s peer, Madonna.

“Rain On Me” is a cheese ballad that works because it’s organic, this is Cyndi Lauper and nothing more, she’s not trying to be someone or something else here. It’s light and simple production tactics play wonderfully with the tracks melodies and lyrics. I’ll never get over these gorgeous melodies, huge POP melodies like this must be heard.
