Katy Perry to release “The One That Got Away” as 6th single, may make history!

Teenage dreams do come true!!!

“The One That Got Away” (a personal favorite from day one) was recently announced by EMI as the 6th single from the smash album Teenage Dream! I questioned it’s mainstream appeal but luckily Dr.Luke is set to re-work the production for radio. I’m beyond thrilled we’re going to get a video, remixes, promo, and all that cotton candy fluff for the catchy record.

The lyrics for “The One That Got Away” may be straight forward and dismissed by many as “silly” and “simple”, yet they serve their purpose in such an effective manner. From listening to Radiohead and matching tattoos, it’s love lost at it’s finest. However, what stands out most for me on the track is the chorus, the second Perry belts “In another life” I fall to my knees – nothing like an infectious melody soaked in such honest words! This track is going to translate so well in remix form and acoustic covers!

Perry recently tied Michael Jackson as the only artist to have 5 #1 singles from an album and now with the release of “The One That Got Away”, it looks like Katy is looking to stand alone in hopes of scoring 6 #1 records! The label insists it’s not out to break records with the single but instead are choosing to milk the album since the holiday season is approaching – either way I’m sold and hope Perry makes history! I’ve said from first listen, Teenage Dream is one perfectly crafted POP record!
