Congratulations to Little Mix, the girls were crowned the 2011 X-Factor UK champs last night and became the first female group to win the competition. Following tradition, Little Mix have released their debut single which happens to be the classic folk smash by Damien Rice, “Cannonball”. While I do think the girls are extremely talented and have all the potential in the world, I have to say I don’t believe this is the right single choice for them.

Damien Rice stands as one of my all time favorites so I may be a bit more critical here but I really think if you’re going to cover such a masterpiece, you have to deliver something new to the table. Don’t get me wrong, the girls do a great job vocally but it simply falls short, especially as a debut single.
