First Listen: HOAX – “Western Medicine”

The HOAX boys are back at it again with another incredible track, “Western Medicine”, in what seems to be likewise to a Wes Anderson-esque short film.

Our favorite philosophical indie heartthrobs have been on our radar for years now and never seem to disappoint, with each new song being even deeper in concept than the last. “Western Medicine” is yet another song where HOAX successfully gets you contemplating about life: Why do we feel pain? For what reasons do we exist? Why do we numb ourselves? At the end of the day, who do we truly ‘b?’ – a reference to their upcoming debut concept album (obviously titled, b?).

The best part of “Western Medicine” is the heartfelt composition of the strings on this track. It really is an element you don’t find in the average mainstream radio pop song these days and only HOAX can accomplish. When was the last time you heard violins used so beautifully and elegantly, yet feel so relevant, relatable, and easily digestible? Not to mention, god damn addicting!
