Billie Eilish changes gears from her signature sweet and eargasmic pop sound and surprises us with her dark side in her new track “Copycat”.
The 15-year old singer-songwriter unleashes her inner demons into a blaring, malevolent song, channeling a brooding sound taking her to depths we’ve not heard from Eilish before. Throughout the track, she sings self-vindicated lyrics like “‘Copycat trying to cop my manner / Watch your back when you can’t catch mine” and “By the way, you’re uninvited / “. Just as she softens up towards the end of the song, you quickly realize her deceptive tone with her hushful “sike!”
