Single Premiere: Kelly Clarkson – What Doesn’t Kill You (Stronger)

Single Premiere: Kelly Clarkson – What Doesn’t Kill You (Stronger)

I have mixed feelings about this one. I LOVE Kelly, I really do, but I don’t think I can take this and run with it. It’s not a bad song by any means, just not exactly great. This song makes me think of the wallpaper in your mothers bedroom that was nice 20 years ago, rosy and dull, I imagine there’s potpourri somewhere in the room too.

The only real highlight for me is the second verse, it sets itself apart from the rest of the track. I’m rather worried for the rest of the album because this feels like filler material and it’s getting single treatment, I can’t imagine this  performing better than “Mr. Know It All”. What do you think?

  1. I personally love this! I think it is different from Mr. Know It All, the beat is fresh and the lyrics are nice and fresh too.
It’s a very nice upbeat song, wish I could see her in concert performing this. I <3 it!

    Filler?? Are you deaf??
This is pure epicness from Kelly. Obviously not her best song, but it’s better than Mr. Know It All and would be an awesome follow-up single. She’s vocally great on this, as she always is, and while the lyrics may be a tad cliche in parts, the song’s overall production makes up for it.
Possibly a remastered version of Dark Side could serve better as a second single, but this song would be equally awesome.
Stronger is shaping up to be one hell of a good album!!

I agree with the other comments. ‘Mr. Know It All’ did absolutely nothing for me…this song is much more attractive to my ears. Yeah, it’s not really special or unique in every way but I think this will do better for her.

This song is great! I definitely agree with it being fresh. She also has a contest going on right now, where you get the chance to win 2 tickets to see her live by creating a Spotify playlist…I hope I win :) You can enter here: http://contest.kellyclarkson.com/

Oh and I think Mr. Know It All is really good. It is just different for Kelly because it is a mid tempo. I like when she is a little bluesy. The song is a grower, and she does it amazing live. She is the best live singer I have ever seen. This album is going to be HUGE!!!

  7. The chorus is good and it has that typical club pop beat which will sell to the kiddies but I haven’t been overly impressed with any of the leaks from the new album at all. Nothing has been as good as the singles from her previous album for sure.
